More Castles

Here are more castles...

I wish I could show them all, but all the pictures did not turn out.

Some of these were winners, but I bet you can't tell which ones.

Sixth Grade Castle Project

We had a Sixth Grade Castle contest today.

Every child who creates a Medieval Castle receives an extra credit 100 test grade.

The castles are judged from each homeroom for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

The castles you are about to see did not receive an award...but they certainly deserved one.

Wow...there were too many good ones...I felt bad for the judges.

I will show more in the coming days, including the winners.

Sunday Fun Read

Which book should we choose to be our favorite for today?

Something funny?

A book for boys?

A romance?

How about a book that includes a little bit of history???

Letters From Rifka by Karen Hesse is one of my all time favorite books.  It is the story of a girl trying to get to America  from a Jewish community in Russia. At one point in her trip, she cannot travel with her family because she has ring worm on her head.

I remember one year, our school had a contest where the students were to dress like a character from their favorite book.  One of my Sixth Grade girls dressed like Rifka.  Nobody else knew who she was, but I knew her as soon as she walked through the door.

Older girls will especially like this book about the struggles that Rifka has trying to find freedom in America.

Blog Changes

Thank you dear readers.  It has been such a pleasure talking to so many of you who follow my blog on a regular basis.  My motivation comes from being able to share with you a small part of our lives and interests.

I hope you have noticed my atttempts to make my blog more user friendly.  Blogger has added new templates, and I have chosen one that will allow more room for larger pictures, and utilizing the entire screen.  I hope you like the changes that you see.

I also am making an attempt to add page guides at the top of my blog.  This will help those of you who come to my site for a particular reason...for example, if you are just interested in "recipes".

Please feel free to leave me comments anytime.  I am very interested in hearing what any of you think of the changes I have made.

Happy Reading!!!

Disappearing Pansy Mystery

 Now you see them...
 Now you don't...
Something has taken my pansies.
Not all of them.
But, all of them out of this log.
There were three plants.
Now there are none.
There is no sign of any of the three pansies anywhere.
There is no evidence that anything has been disturbed.
They are simply gone.
Does anyone have any ideas that might solve this mystery???

Knitted Dish Cloths

This is officially my new favorite knitted dish cloth pattern.

I like this pattern because it is easily memorized.  You don't have to refer to the pattern as you knit.

I also really like the way it looks.  The waffle pattern is very unique.

Pansies, Moss, and Dead Logs

This past weekend the weather was gorgeous...

my pansies have been planted.

A few here...

and a few there....

I enjoy planting flowers in dead logs.

It's no problem in the Big Woods finding moss to add.

A few pansies and a little moss...

Did I Hear Someone Say Fish Fry???

Yes, you did.  And after looking at these pictures, you may just be able to smell the fish!!!

My local church hosted a fish fry last night.

It was put on by the Men's Club.
They served fish, fish, and more fish!!!

Doesn't this plate look yummy???  Trust me, it tasted just as yummy as it looks.

The women did help out just a tad.  Look at this endless dessert table.

A great time was had by all.
Thanks men for all of your hard work.
