Weddings

Another beautiful wedding...another happy couple.

This time, we traveled to Fort Payne, Alabama, to witness the marriage of my husband's first cousin's son.  It took us about three hours to make the trip, but it was a nice day, and our kids were well behaved.

The groom is from Michigan, but attended college at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  He met his bride there, so two different worlds have come together.  They make a beautiful couple and are now moving to California.  Life can certainly change in a hurry.

We wish them the best as they begin this new journey together.

U. S. Space and Rocket Center

Guess where I've been today???
Yes, I did visit the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, but...
I was actually attending STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Camp.
We spent our first day of camp at MTSU receiving wonderful teaching ideas to be used
in our own classrooms.  Today, we visited the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and received more materials and ideas to be used in our classrooms.  This is one of the best teacher trainings I have ever attended.
The weather was hot today, but the sky was absolutely gorgeous.
I will end this post with a few pictures.
Enjoy!!!

Crochet Round Pillow

If you haven't caught on by now, I just love Lucy's blog over at http://www.attic24.typepad.com/.  She has wonderful crocheting tutorials that walk you through projects step by step with pictures.  I have been following her flat circle tutorial to make a round pillow.  I just recently finished the pillow by crocheting both sides together around a pillow form.
I had the hardest time finding a round pillow form.  I finally ordered three from a lady on Etsy.  There were none at the craft stores around here, and there were none available to order from these same stores online.  Any suggestions???
I will show my finished pillow in my next post.

I love, love, love to make this dish.

Cook the 12 ounces of spaghetti noodles according to package directions.  Rinse and drain.
Melt 4 tablespoons margarine and add to noodles along with 4 tablespoons Parmesan.  Toss well.
Press into large casserole dish.
Layer 12 ounces Mozzarella,
ground beef,
26 ounces spaghetti sauce,
12 ounces mozzarella cheese,
and 1 (4-ounce) package pepperoni.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
Cut in sections to serve.
Yum...

All you need now is a salad and bread.

Wordle - blog

Sorry I have been away for a few days.
I just returned from a trip with some fellow teachers to a conference in Nashville.
We had a nice trip.
I learned some new things that I will be able to use in my classroom this fall.
But, who wants to think about the new school year now???
I did get some URL's to some really neat websites.
Click on the link below to see something I made using the most current words from my blog.
Wordle - blog
Apparently, I say "flowers and beautiful" a lot.
That's why they are bigger than the other words.
I can think of all kinds of ways to use this website in my classroom.
Preassessment - what do you know about _______________?
Make a wordle.
Then, after you have taught the content, make a new wordle with their new vocabulary,
and then compare the two wordles.
But, we don't want to think about the new school year yet???
Remember???
These wordles would make really cute t-shirts.
Maybe I need a blogging wordle t-shirt.
Or better yet, maybe I should create one with words describing summer vacation!!!

Roses By the Bed

When I first got the idea of putting flowers on my bedside table, I never thought I would have so many opportunities with so many different kinds of flowers.
They seem to just keep showing up from all kinds of places.
Do you recognize these???
Yes, they are from this past weekend's wedding.
My nephew and his beautiful bride are honeymooning, while we here at home are enjoying their beautiful flowers.  And they are beautiful.  I still love the idea they used at the wedding of displaying them in different size fruit jars.
