What Goes Around Comes Around

My daughter and I have had great fun today...
With her new love for vintage and music, she has begged for her Dad and I to pull out our old record albums.  The last few days, we have enjoyed looking for the albums we had long put away and telling stories about our youth.

We also made a trip last night to Goodwill.  There we discovered some great album covers, including "Love Means Never Having to Say You're Sorry".

Today, we have played with hanging these albums on her bedroom wall.

The Donny Osmond album was the only one of mine she had to hang.
I wouldn't say my family was poor, we just did not have a lot of money to spend on extra things.
This album was given to me by my "rich" brother for Christmas one year.  I treasured this album.  There is no telling how many times I listened to it.

Most of the albums belonged to my husband.
He had wonderful taste in music...
Charlie Daniels, Electric Light Orchestra...

It is just so funny to me how excited my daughter became over these albums.
She loves all kinds of music.
I love that she appreciates the value of truly good music!!!

Through the Eyes of a Camera

The Pioneer Woman carries her camera with her wherever she goes,
capturing shots of her everyday life.
I decided to carry along my camera today as I walked to the mailbox.
The wind was slightly blowing, and with the temperatures in the low 40's,
it was a cold, blustery walk.
Here is what I saw:

There is soooo much work to be done
 here in the Big Woods.
It was nice to look at a few things through my camera's lens to see the beauty.
Spring is definitely coming...but a few flurries were flying as I walked.

Bella Rustica

My daughter has a new interest in anything Vintage.  Last fall, we learned about a perfectly wonderful Vintage Fair called Bella Rustica.
It was held in an old barn on the Milky Way Farm in Giles County Tennessee.
If you ever have the opportunity to go, I would highly recommend it.  The atmosphere of the fair was wonderful, including the live country music.
My daughter purchased this really cute bracelet at the fair.
I expect to have more Vintage items to share in the near future.

Pepsi Cake

So, at our house right now...we have freezing rain.
For us this means SCHOOLS OUT.
If you are looking for a warm dessert for a cold day, look no further.
This Pepsi Cake has a hot sweet syrup poured over the top that makes it super
moist and delicious when it is served warm.

Grease a Bundt pan well and sprinkle the bottom with 1/2 cup chopped nuts (Nuts are optional; I usually leave them out.)  Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

You will need:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 box (3 1/2 oz.) vanilla instant pudding
1/2 cup oil
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup Pepsi
4 whole eggs
Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl.  Beat until smooth.  Bake for 50 to 60 minutes at 325 degrees.  As soon as the cake is taken from the oven, pour the following hot syrup over the cake while still in the bundt pan.

For the syrup, you will need:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup Pepsi
1 stick butter or margarine

Mix all ingredients in saucepan.  Heat to boiling.
Boil 3 minutes.
Pour over hot cake while still in pan.  Cool and remove from pan.

Enjoy!!!

Knitted Dish Clothes

My Lynchburg Sister has been busy
 knitting as of late.
She is making the most of her recent retirement and using her time wisely.

I really like the colors of these knitted dishcloths.

Which do you like the best?
The blue or the red?

Winter Flowers

It is nice to be able to keep a little bit of summer on into the winter.
This is a stem I broke off a plant about a month ago.  It had a bud on the end of it, and that bud has just now begun to bloom.
It is a really nice addition in my kitchen, especially after putting all of the Christmas decorations away.
I would love it if this stem would root.
We will see.
