Knitted Cap

I have been looking for a good pattern for a knitted cap, and I think I may have found what I was looking for.  I really like how this cap turned out.
It can be worn with the cuff or without.
I knitted this one with size 10 needles following the standard directions.  It did turn out a little small.  I have begun another one in blue...this time I am using size 11 needles and following the directions for the adult cap.  I plan to work on it tomorrow...because, I just got word that school has been cancelled tomorrow for snow...and I think this will be a great project for my day!!!  I'll be knitting and working on this puzzle with my kids.
If you would like to try this pattern, just follow this link: knitted cap.  The thread I used is Vanna's Choice.

Chocolate Chess Pie

If you want to make a really good Chocolate Chess pie, you will need the following ingredients:
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 stick butter, melted
3 small Tablespoons cocoa
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 ounce can Carnation evaporated milk
First, mix the sugar and cocoa together.
Then, add the melted butter.
Next, slightly beat the eggs in a small bowl.
Add the eggs, milk, and vanilla to the original mixture.
Pour into a prepared pie shell.
Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
This is my Sewing Sister's recipe.
It is very well known that this is her Middle Son's favorite pie.
My own children really enjoy when I make this pie.
I usually make one any time that I make pie crusts, because my recipe makes 2 crusts, and this pie is always easy to whip up to fill the second crust.
(The first crust is typically used for a Coconut Creme Pie...not quite as easy to make as this one.)
Enjoy!!!

Miniature Toys

Have you seen these cute miniature sets of Lincoln Logs, Tinker Toys, and Barrel of Monkeys???
They are toooooo cute!!!
You can see how tiny they are compared to this can of soda.  Tiny...tiny...tiny.
Every year at Christmas, my family plays a very silly game of BINGO.  This year, my Nissan Niece brought some prizes.  My kids and I won four sets of these toys.  Guess who has played with them the most?
That would be MEEEEEE.
I just love building these little houses!!!

You Might Be A Redneck If....

...you have an armadillo trying
to make his permanent residence
under your front porch.
You just never know what you will experience here in the Big Woods.
My husband came in today and told me the dogs had a present for me.  I jumped about 2 feet in the air when I saw the armadillo there.
He (notice how I just assume it was a "he")
had turned over my flower pot, uncovered our dish cord, and turned over a small chair.  And he was working very hard to build a tunnel under the porch.
It still seems so strange to see an armadillo in Tennessee.  They were just introduced to our area a few years ago.

Crock Pot Pizza Noodles

Gather all your ingredients and get ready to make this delicious crock pot dish.  This is a new recipe that I received from a friend, and it is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
You will need:
2 pounds ground beef
1 onion chopped
1 large bag wide egg noodles
1 bag mini pepperoni
1 bag pizza size Canadian bacon
2 jars pizza sauce (14 ounces)
2 small cans black olives
2 small cans mushrooms
Italian seasonings to taste (such as basil and oregano)
3 cups Mozzarella cheese
3 cups Cheddar cheese

First boil egg noodles, drain, and set aside.

Brown ground beef with onion and Italian seasonings.
Drain off grease.
Return to skillet and add olives, mushrooms, and pizza sauce.
(I left out the olives and only used one can of mushrooms...you can choose to fit your family's taste.)

Now, layer in the crock pot as follows:
1/2 ground beef mixture
1/2 noodles
1/2 pepperoni and Canadian bacon
1/2 Cheddar cheese
1/2 Mozzarella cheese
Repeat
Turn crock pot on low and let it heat through to melt all the cheese!

I will have to say, if your New Year's Resolution is to loose weight, this is not the recipe for you.
Enjoy~

Year of I Saw God Today

If you've been following my blog, you know the story behind the "I Saw God Today" posts.  These are some of my favorite posts of the year, and I am pleased to see the one I wrote about my Uncle is my Number 2 post of the year.  (You can find it in my sidebar.)

The pictures in the collage above were not necessarily part of an "I Saw God Today" post, but when I was looking through my pictures, I realized that each of these pictures reflects a part of God's beautiful world.

I want to wish all of you a Happy New Year, and I look forward to spending more time with you in 2011.
