Year in Sewing, Crocheting, Knitting

Of all these things, my favorite thing to make had to be the dish cloths. I love the way they knit, and how they look when finished.  They also wash well...which is always a plus!!!
Most of these patterns can be found by clicking the "Crochet/Knitting" tab at the top of my blog.  Also, you may notice on the side of my blog, that the crochet round pillow has been the most popular post of the year.

Year in Recipes

I have really enjoyed blogging about my favorite recipes this year.  One of the advantages for me is that I now go to my computer when I need a recipe.  I am also pleased that my children will have these recipes when they are older.

If you see anything in the collage that you would like to try, just click on my "Recipe" tab at the top of this blog.  You can click on "Older Post" to see past recipes.

And stay tuned to 2011...I still have lots of recipes yet to share.  In a few days I will be posting a recipe for Crockpot Pizza Lasagna.
Enjoy!!!

Year in Flowers

It has been a little over one year since I started my blog. My how time flies. After looking through my pictures this evening, I am amazed at what all my family has done in just one year.

I thought I would choose some themes and share a few photos of the year. I have started with flowers. I do love flowers. I really had not realized how many flowers I come in contact with in a single year until I looked through these pictures...
and this is only a part.
(You can click on the collage to see the pictures up close.)

I will share another theme collage tomorrow.
Enjoy your last few days of 2010.

Knitted Scarf

I have been longing for a day to stay home all day and knit.  Today, I finally got my wish.
I had purchased this Merino Bulky Wool called "Ushya" from the Knotty Ewe during my last trip to Lynchburg.  I had intended on making a hat, but opted to go for something a little easier and made a scarf instead.
With some rather large knitting needles and this bulky yarn, it is possible to knit a scarf in just a few hours.  I really enjoyed knitting with this yarn.
The pattern I used cast on 12 stitches.

Hallelujah Tree

It's time for my daughter and I to decorate our Hallelujah Tree for the birds.  If you don't remember this tradition, here is my post from last year...2009 Hallelujah Tree.

This year, we decided to try some different decorations.
We punched holes in stale ice cream cones and added jute hangers.  These cones were then filled with bird seed.
We also spread peanut butter on some stale hamburger buns and then dipped these in bird seed.
My daughter strung raisins on wire and formed them into the shape of a heart, and she strung cheerios and fruit loops on jute to make a garland.

Our Hallelujah Tree has really grown since last year.  We had to climb higher on the ladder to reach the limbs to decorate.
And here it is...
Hallelujah!!!

Christmas Dinner

The weather forecast called for snow on Christmas Day...and they were right.  We really did have a white Christmas in Tennessee.  Just a little dusting in the Big Woods this morning, and a little more snow tonight, but at least it has given us the feeling of Christmas.
We had a nice Christmas Eve with my Lynchburg Sister last night, then my Dependable Sister opened up her home this morning for a wonderful Christmas breakfast that we all worked to prepare.
And finally this evening, my Nashville brother did the cooking.  Doesn't this turkey look divine??...Trust me, it was delicious.  He cooked it stuffed with lemons and oranges...so moist and juicy.
Along with the turkey, he served this beautiful salad, colard greens, squash casserole...and
baked sweet potatoes!!!   It has been forever since I have had a baked sweet potato.  Yum.
This raspberry cheesecake with a chocolate graham crust was for dessert.

Wonderful meal!
Wonderful family!
Wonderful day!
Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas

Over 2000 years ago, God decided that something had to be done about the problems of the world.  So, he came to the earth as a human.  Let us remember that this is the reason we celebrate Christmas.  Merry Christmas to your family from ours.  May you share God's love as you give and receive gifts, share time with your family, and enjoy the blessings in your life.
