A Place For Everything

After much searching...

I finally found just the right container...

For my antique cookie cutters.

So now we can say,
"A place for everything, and everything in its place."

Power's Off

Our electricity was off for 2 hours this evening.
It is has been soooooooo hot in Tennessee this year.
Today's high was 100 with a higher heat index.
Our students at school have been given cold bottled water each day to help with the bus ride home.
We can't take the kids to the play ground because of the heat, but at least it is cool in the school building.
I really feel for people who have to work outside or have no air conditioning.
I just realized that this evening while our electricity was off.
We ended up on the front porch with the
watering can and the caladiums.
I do enjoy the time with no television or noise.

I Saw God Today

My daughter called me outside this week with shouts of,
"Mom, come quick and bring the camera."
A beautiful butterfly had crawled onto her hand.
On her hand is where it decided to frolick and play.
It stayed and stayed and stayed.
And as it played on her hand, I was able to take lots of nice pictures.
Isn't God's world good???

Sunday Fun Read

It's time for today's Sunday Fun Read.

Today's accelerated reading book recomendation is Hatchet by Gary Paulsen.

Hatchet is the story of a young boy named Brian, and his misfortune on an airplane.  The pilot has a heart attack, and the plane crash lands on an island.  Brian finds himself all alone on this island with nothing but a hatchet...hince the title of the book.

The book includes the adventures Brian goes through as he struggles to survive alone on this island.

This book is an awesome book, and it is one I often recommend for boys, although some girls enjoy it too.

If you read this book and like it, but you're not too happy with how it ends, Gary Paulsen has written another book called Brian's Winter that gives an alternate ending to Hatchet.

We have now been in school three days, and my students are already reading like crazy.  I hope some of you will enjoy this book recommendation.

Knitted Dish Cloths

These dish towels are the lasted addition to my Etsy Shop.  http://www.littlefamilybigwoods.etsy.com/
I really enjoy knitting this pattern.
The colors are fun, too.  I am really missing my knitting time now that school is back in session.  But, it has been a great week!

Knitted Scarf

This is my latest knitting project-a scarf for my daughter.
The thread is hand dyed cotton thread.
I am really enjoying knitting with this yarn.
It is very soft and easy to knit.
This is one of the skeins of thread that I purchased at
The Knotty Ewe in Lynchburg, TN.
Knitting is so relaxing.  This morning before I went to work, I sat down and knitted 4 quick rows.  I wish I could do this every day.

Lynchburg

Just a few pictures from my Lynchburg Sister's home.  We had a sister/brother luncheon there last week.  She made lunch for us which was absolutely delicious.
If you have never been to Lynchburg, Tennessee, you are missing out.  The town square is delightful.  It seems that every time we go to visit, there is some new shop that has moved in to town.  This year, the new shop was the Knotty Ewe.  This is a new "knitting" shop, so as you can imagine, I was in heaven.  The shop was full of specialty yarns and such.  I purchased a couple of yarns, and I have already begun a scarf that I will share later.

We also enjoyed visiting a couple of new antique stores.  One of these stores is called the Cow Pattie store.  Yes, I said the Cow Pattie store.  She sells antiques and special pots made of cow manure to help your flowers grow.
Go figure.

I have shared a few pictures from my Lynchburg Sister's home, and I will share more later.  She is proud to live in Lynchburg, and her home reflects that.  You will notice in one of the above pictures, she has a picture of the famous Mrs. Mary Bobo's restaurant sitting in her kitchen.

My Lynchburg sister and her husband moved into this home a few years ago and completely remodeled it.  She has decorated it beautifully by hand painting furniture and shopping at discount stores.
It is always a joy to visit her home and her town.
