Spring

It is spring time in the Big Woods, which means it is time to try and add a little color to our surroundings.

Finding plants that will grow in the deep shade is very difficult.
These petunias are beautiful now, but the blooms will probably not last long.

This basket of vine is doing well.

I usually have pretty good luck with impatients.

 Planting in baskets is fun.
This is one of my favorites this year.

I picked these baskets up at Good Will.
You can usually find some very inexpensive baskets there that are good for using outdoors.

School is now out for the summer.

I hope this will give me the chance to give my plants a little more attention.

Some perennials, like this foam flower require very little attention.
These two plants came back from last year and are doing great.

These hostas and fern also come back every year.

Greenhouse Pots and Posies

Spring has arrived in Tennessee...finally.
This is a special spring, because it is the first spring that my Lynchburg sister has plants growing in her new greenhouse.

I got to pay a visit to her greenhouse last week and take a few pictures.

She has lots of unique plants and flowers.
Her specialty is hypertufa pots and container gardens.
This is one of my favorites...very old fashioned and beautiful.
She has some of these for sale at the Spotty Cow in Lawrenceburg, TN.
Beautiful things for her first year.

Daffodils

This has been a very busy week in the Big Woods.

My daughter just returned from spending four days at Youth Legislature in Nashville.
Her team wrote a bill that was passed and will be shown to the actual Tennessee Legislature...very exciting.

My son is home for Spring Break.
So, I have been grilling and cooking all his favorite foods.

My husband spent Saturday auctioning off several tractors and other farm equipment.

I have been busy keeping up with the three of them and taking pictures of the gorgeous daffodils in my woods.  I couldn't choose just a few pictures to share, so I hope you will enjoy this collection of daffodils.
