Christmas 2017

It's Christmas in the Big Woods.  We have just finished celebrating a wonderful Christmas.  I thought I would share with you a few of the highlights from our home.
I was delighted when my husband decided to have this sign designed for the entrance to the Big Woods.  He simply took a picture of what we wanted to our local Sign company, and they were able to create exactly what we wanted.

Our cat, Gus, has kept an eye out every day for Santa.
Santa is definitely hard to spot among all the trees.

I have been adding to my buffalo check collection this year.  The place mats are a new addition.  I was lucky to find them at our local Big Lots!

I have been collecting Santa Clauses for several years.  There are a few on this table from my childhood.  Several of these have special stories that go along with them of the people who gave them to me.

We have had a great time decorating this year.
There seems to be lots of cottage style decorations everywhere you shop these days.

Lots of fresh and artificial holly this year for decorating inside and out.

My daughter created these hanging wreaths for me last Christmas by very patiently forming a long piece of thin greenery into a circle and adding ribbon.  I just used a thumbtack to attach them to the back of my cabinet doors.

This very cute star was made by my Lynchburg Sister from a folding ruler.  She sells these in her booth at the Spotted Cow just off our downtown square.

Merry Christmas to all!!!

December

After a day of Black Friday shopping, it becomes time to decorate for Christmas.
We spent all day Friday cleaning and getting our home ready for Christmas.
I took several pictures, but these are the only ones that came out good enough to post.
My daughter loves decorating for the holidays.
Our home takes on a completely different "feel" once we finish our decorating.
Enjoy@@@

Burlap Table Runner

Thank you, Pioneer Woman, for your
inspiration today.
The burlap table runner she used on her table during her Food Network show today was the inspiration I needed for making my own burlap table runner.
It was very easy to make and added to my Easter table setting.
Glad I just happen to have an extra piece of burlap lying around.

Christmas Christmas Time is Here

Christmas, Christmas Time is Here.
Time for Joy and Time for Cheer.

My ninety-nine cent poinsettias have been wrapped and tied with ribbon.

They seem to be all over our house.
I have left most of our decorations in the attic this year.
It seems we enjoy things more if there is not quite so much of it!!!

Decorating for me has become more simple than in years past.
It is the simple things I seem to enjoy most.
Adding Christmas cakes to a kitchen jar.

Or putting a few candy sticks in a glass container.

How do you decorate for the holidays?

Christmas Decorating

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!!
We have decorated.
Our theme this year seems to be poinsettias.
I have purchased several to decorate for a special even at church.
For now, they are decorating our home.
The tin came from the Lynchburg square, and it is one of my favorite things.

Teen Bedroom

Last summer we painted my daughter's bedroom four different colors (turquoise, purple, gray, and green).  I thought I would show some updated pictures of her room, since she has made a few changes this summer.

Remember Jimmy???
He always looks so relaxed no matter where he is sitting.

It is hard to tell from this picture, but the lamp in the corner has shades in all the different colors.  We are hoping to paint this desk in turquoise soon, and change out the pink chair.

Mickey was added at Christmas time...
after our trip to Disney World.

Which wall color is your favorite???

Blue and White

Today has been blue and white day.
I have been cleaning, moving, and rearranging the blue and white dishes in my kitchen.

The dishes I had in this cabinet were blending in with the white background...so I decided it was time for a change.

One thing led to another, and I began rearranging and cleaning the entire kitchen.
