Cinnamon Ornaments

It's beginning to smell a lot like Christmas in the Big Woods.
I just love the smell of Cinnamon Ornaments in the house.

These ornaments are super fun and easy to make.
Especially when you make them with someone else.
My daughter helped me with these.

These are the necessary ingredients...
1 cup cinnamon
3/4 cup applesauce
2 Tablespoons white glue
1 Tablespoon pumpkin pie spice, ground nutmeg, or ground cloves
Mix together, then roll out to 1/4 inch using cinnamon to keep the dough
from sticking to your dough board. Cut our with cookie cutters.
Let dry for 24 hours or longer.
Remember to use a small straw or something to make a hole in the top for hanging with thread.

We have so many cookie cutters.
But, we decided to stick with stars, angels, and trees.

I used the stars to decorate this little tree in my kitchen.

I used the trees on my kitchen cabinet doors.

Such an easy and fun Christmas craft.

Christmas Pillow

My daughter's Christmas pillow is finally finished.
Not bad, I would say...three days after Christmas.
She requested this pillow about a week before Black Friday.
We got all the stuff, and I quickly began working on it; but then, the Christmas season hit.
There just never seemed to be any time.

That's ok, we had great fun along the way.
It was fun picking out the fabrics.

My daughter enjoyed deciding which order the squares should be sewn together.

She chose the font and printed off the words for me.
Then, I enjoyed embroidering them onto the fabric.

This is the stage where our project stalled.
Once I put them in the lap quilting frame, I really liked the way it looked.

So, I used it as a Christmas decoration, while it waited to be finished.

I am proud of the finished product.
I am mostly proud that I actually finished it.
It has been a while since I tackled a project this complicated.
If you want to try one, you can find the directions here:

I hope she will enjoy it for many years to come.

Teen Christmas Bedroom

Christmas...Christmas...Christmas
My sixteen year old daughter needed to make a trip to town to purchase some things to make her room look more like Christmas.

I am loving the results of her decorating extravaganza.

She began her decorating with this Christmas quilt we purchased a few weeks ago.
It is the exact colors of her room.

Today she made this NOEL by glittering and then hot gluing the letters together.
She has her Christmas book waiting to be
read and albums waiting to be played.

I am especially liking the tube lights.
They look very vintage with all of her vintage stuff on top of the piano.

She made these snow globes from fruit jars.
They added just the right touch.

Thanks dear daughter for all of your Christmas inspiration.
I am especially enjoying writing this post while listening to my new Michael BublĂ© Christmas album that you and your brother suggested I get myself for Christmas.
You were so right.
It is the perfect thing to put me in the spirit of the holidays.

Blue Jar Glasses

Give my daughter a little time with Pinterest,
and she has to create something.
With a little help from her Daddy and the Dog Days Flea Market, she created these unique glasses.

The blue jars came from Kroger.
The grommets came from the flea market.
My daughter's favorite part of making these was saying the word "grommets".
I know she has said it at least 100 times.

Bella Rustica

My daughter has a new interest in anything Vintage.  Last fall, we learned about a perfectly wonderful Vintage Fair called Bella Rustica.
It was held in an old barn on the Milky Way Farm in Giles County Tennessee.
If you ever have the opportunity to go, I would highly recommend it.  The atmosphere of the fair was wonderful, including the live country music.
My daughter purchased this really cute bracelet at the fair.
I expect to have more Vintage items to share in the near future.

Decorating for Christmas

We have been decorating for Christmas today...
pictures from our house will come soon...
until then, here are some more pictures from our Harvest Festival.

We sold a lot of Chirstmas ornaments this year.

These ribbon ornaments were really easy to make.  We found the directions on Pinterest.

Harvest Festival

The annual Harvest Festival at my church was last Saturday.  It was a huge success.
I have lots of pictures to share from the day, but I thought I would start with pictures from my favorite table this year.

First of all...I just love these ghosts.
They are very simple and very cute.

And of course, it is no secret how much I like Happy Home Flavorings.
I purchased the Strawberry and Peppermint variety this year.
I will let you know what I make with these as soon as I figure out what I can make.

Some cute fall arrangements were added to this table.

Quote the raven, "Nevermore".

There were no ghosts left at the end of the day.
We had very few arrangements left and only a few flavorings.
The crowd was steady all day.
I will share more pictures later.
