Pumpkin Carving

 This gorgeous pumpkin was created by my husband for our church's Harvest Festival.  I am not quite sure how he does this, but he has made several with different designs.  It is really pretty at night when using a light bulb to light it up.

You just never know what kind of hidden talents and gifts some people have waiting to be used.

Swing at the Edge of the Woods

I know it doesn't look like much, but this has become my absolute favorite place. 

I took this picture one evening while walking up the driveway headed to our swing. 

My husband had beat me there on the tractor, which you see in the picture. 

 My family has already spent several hours relaxing in this swing...neighbors have come by to visit

and sit for a while. 

If we are there after the sun goes down, we have a small kerosene lamp to light. 

I am so glad we found this swing and hung it

from the tree. 

If you have a place to put one, I would highly recommend it. 

Great stress relief!!!

Old Quilts

Just playing around today with a few old quilts.

I am ashamed to say that this quilt use to be the one I wrapped around my ice cream freezer to keep the ice cream from melting.

I have washed it numerous times, and it is still a good old quilt.

Biscuit Doughnuts

During the week of Fall Break, my daughter requested a special breakfast each morning.  Homemade pancakes, cinnamon toast, and biscuit doughnuts were at the top of the list. 

We love making biscuit doughnuts.

You need canola oil or peanut oil

and

the cheapest canned biscuits you can buy.

Begin by cutting the center hole out of each biscuit.

I am very lucky to have my Mother's doughnut hole cutter.  If you do not have one of these, you can use a tylenol medicine cup.

Put enough oil in a skillet to come up half way on the doughnuts.  Heat the oil and then add doughnuts.

They will brown quickly on one side, turn and allow to brown on the other side.  Drain each one on a paper towel.

Now the fun begins.

We made a vanilla glaze with:

 1 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

and

2 Tablespoons milk

We also made a chocolate glaze with:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 Tablespoons cocoa

3 Tablespoons milk

Dip both sides in the glaze and then add sprinkles immediately after dipping.

You can also drizzle the alternate icing or sprinkle powdered sugar.

These are actually very easy to make and very good to eat!!!

Fall Quilt

I have been playing around in my quilt closet. 

The weather is getting cooler, you know.

I found this quilt top that was made by my Grandmother.

It is perfect for this time of year.

Even though it looks really pretty here on my front porch, I cannot logically leave it here.

\I have been trying to figure out how I can use this quilt top with my decorations for fall. 

It is perfect to be used with the colored leaves. 

I just can't figure out how to display it.

Even the cat is puzzled...

Any suggestions???

Toilet Roll Pumpkins

Cute, cute, cute, cute, cute...

My daughter has been at it again.

She found how to make these on the internet at www.familyfun.com.

They are made out of a roll of toilet paper.

She covered the roll with fall fabric (which I just happened to have) and made a stem from a brown paper sack.

I wanted her to make more, but two rolls of toilet paper were all we could spare. 

HA.
